Around 2 a.m., the dispatcher received a call that the driver had been shot multiple times. Police told 6 ABC he was shot 13 times during the confrontation, and was lying on the ground next to the still-running taxi cab when they arrived.
The victim has been transported to Penn Presbyterian Media Center where he is currently listed in critical condition. Police don’t have many details about the suspect, other than they are searching for a black vehicle that left the scene around the time of the shooting.
The dispatcher, who did not want to release his name, said the taxi company is being extra cautious with people seeking fares in light of the shooting.
