Voter-registration deadlines are quickly approaching in advance of the Nov. 8 general election. If you still need to register to vote – or aren't sure if you're registered – here's what you need to do before casting your ballot.
Pennsylvania
- Pennsylvania's deadline to register is next Tuesday (Oct. 11.).
- Check whether you're registered on the Pennsylvania Department of State website.
- You can register to vote online or submit a completed application to your county voter registration office, either by mail or in-person. If you are mailing the application, it must be postmarked by Oct. 11.
- You can also register to vote at a PennDot center when you get or update your driver's license, or at certain other state government offices.
- The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Nov. 1.

New Jersey
- New Jersey's deadline to register is Oct. 18.
- Check whether you are already registered at the New Jersey Department of State's website.
- If you need to register, fill out the form for your county and bring or mail it to the county commissioner of registration or superintendent of elections for your county.
- The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is Nov. 1.
