Novak Djokovic and Jelena Ristic's baby boy is here!
"Stefan, our baby angel was born!" the Serbian tennis player, 27, tweeted Wednesday morning. "I'm so proud of my beautiful wife Jelena! Thank you so much for your love and support. We love you all!!!"
RTS, Serbia's state TV, reported that Djokovic's wife gave on Tuesday in Nice, France. Djokovic, who married his high school sweetheart in July, described his son as "healthy" and "lovely" on his official website. The couple had announced Ristic's pregnancy in April.
"The birth went in the best possible manner," he added. "Baby and the mother feel well."
Djokovic also said on his website that he intends to compete in the Paris Masters next week, where he will try to defend the title and prevent tennis pro Roger Federer from taking the year-end No. 1 ranking. However, the new dad said he will first spend "several days with the baby and wife Jelena" in Monaco.
It's been a banner year for Djokovic, who became a married man just four days after he won Wimbledon by beating Federer. "Seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress, smiling and walking towards me...She looked like an angel," he told Hello! of Ristic, 28. "I was trying to be present in that moment and memorize it. I was focused on her, and her smile, and our baby. It really was a perfect moment."
