Call in Lindsay Lohan's understudy!
The 28-year-old says she is unable to perform in Wednesday's matinee and evening performances of Speed the Plow in London, marking the first shows she will miss since she made her stage debut in the David Mamet play revival several weeks ago.
"So sorry everyone but Im too ill to perform and down for the count," Lohan tweeted. "Dr wants me to rest. Wont make shows 2nt but pls enjoy #speedtheplow XxL"
Lohan typically performs eight times a week—evening shows Monday through Saturday and two afternoon matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays
The play marks Lohan's most high-profile acting role in about a decade. The Mean Girls star has struggled to revive her career in recent years amid legal and personal turmoil, including past jail and rehab stints.
"I like the idea of being able to fight for what I lost, essentially," Lohan told the U.K. newspaper The Telegraph earlier this month. "I lost a lot of…I wouldn't say…I don't think 'respect' is the word…trust from a lot of people. And I don't mind gaining that back."
Speed-the-Plow is set to end its run in London's West End on Nov. 29. Since she began performing in the show, Lohan has shared several photos on Instagram, thanking fans for support. One picture she had posted last week shows her topless, sitting in front of a mounted nude portrait of Marilyn Monroe.
"Thank you everyone for coming to #speedtheplow - I never take all of the amazing support for granted. #LoveLife," she said on Oct. 24.
