Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt sure know how to keep their romance alive.

The actress recently opened up to Australia's TV Week magazine, where she revealed how the famous duo stayed in close contact when they were most recently on opposite ends of the globe due to work commitments.

Despite being on two different continents—Jolie was busy working on Unbroken Down Under, while her fiancé was filming his upcoming drama Fury in London—the distance didn't appear to cool things down between the hot couple.

"He was supportive from a distance and it was quite romantic in a way," she explained of their brief time apart from one another.

"We decided to be of that time when we could just imagine he was in the European theater and I was in the Pacific theater and we wrote hand-written letters to each other that were very connecting for us, thinking of the people that were separated for months if not years at a time back then."

The 39-year-old star also shared the pivotal moment when she was able to show Louis Zamperini, the 97-year-old Olympic athlete and World War II hero who her Unbroken is based on, a rough cut of her forthcoming film shortly before he passed away from pneumonia.

"I brought him the film on my laptop in the hospital and it was amazing seeing someone at the end of their life watching their life unfold again, at the same time their body was shutting down," Jolie told the magazine.

"He wanted me to make the movie to show something hopeful about the strength of the human spirit that can pull us through. He reminded me to have my surgery in the year that I did and he reminded me to appreciate every day of my life."
